Objective Following the national directive of upgrading product quality, a scientific and practical evaluation system for the teas made in Guizhou was proposed.
Method This article describes a system that employed 14 secondary indicators on four principle aspects, namely, market competitiveness, technology empowerment, green sustainability, and industrial integration, to objectively assess the tea quality for the industrial development. The entropy weight-TOPSIS method was applied to quantitatively analyze the provincial tea industry from 2014 to 2022.
Result All 14 indicators showed an upward trend in the years for the tea industry in Guizhou with the highest weight index on export volume that reached 24.626%. The revenue from e-commerce, technological innovation exhibited by the industry, and evolving tourism developed for the region performed as planned under a diversified "tea+" pattern.
Suggestion Looking forward, by applying the proposed evaluation system with the emphasis on the four basic arenas the tea industry in Guizhou could further strengthen its operations in brand building, market expansion, technical advancement, green production, and industry-tourism integration resulting in a smooth business transformation and upgrading.
