  • Physicochemical property is the indexcrucial in evaluating the quality of soil or substrate for tea cultivation.Properly selected cultivation substrate directly affects the growth anddevelopment of tea plants at a plantation, thus the operational profitability.This article summarizes the characteristics, types, and physicochemicalproperties of various substrates employed for, as well as their effects on, thegrowth and development of tea seedlings and plants. Recommendationson how to choose appropriate substrates for and future direction of research ontea cultivation are discussed.
