A Report on ZhangpingRegional Trials of 13 New Tea Lines

  •   A regional trial on 13 new Camellia sinensis lines including0206A, 0206B, 0331I, 0312B, MT-19, 0316A, 0331F, and MT-20 was held inZhangping, Fujian that lasted 6 years to determine their adaptability for localcultivation. In the end, Line 0206A was judged to excel among all with asuperior quality score that was 1.5 higher than Huangdan (CK) in 3 consecutiveyears of evaluation. The lines, 0312B, 0325A, 0319, and 0316A, wereearly-sprouting varieties. Whereas the starts of one-bud-one-leaf andone-bud-3-leaf stage of 0331F, 0214-1, 0212-12, MT19, and 0331G were 10d laterthan those of control making them the late-sprouting cultivars. The averageautumn fresh leaf yields of 0206A and 0325A shown in 2016-2018 weresignificantly higher than that of control (P<0.01).These new lines were either more cold- and draught-resistant than or equivalentto CK. Their overall performance in the 6-year trial suggested that thevarieties could be adequately cultivated in Zhangping area as well as regionswith similar climatic conditions.
