Abstract:
The adaptability of a new tea variety, Baiyun 0492 (Camellia sinensis), for regional cultivation was tested, along with C. sinensis Fuding Dabaicha (Camellia sinensis)as reference (CK), for 6 years in Fu’an, Wuyishan City and Youxi. The characteristics of the tea bushes including survival rate, growth potential, phenological phase, bud density, fresh leaf yield, finished tea quality, and environmental resistance were monitored. The results showed that the new cultivar grew well at the sites exhibiting a high survival rate, extra-early phonological phase, and strong stress resistance, as well as high-yield, high-quality white, green, and black teas made from the plucked leaves. It was considered suitable for large-scale cultivations in the region.
