Abstract:
Using the popular Fuding Dabaichaas control (CK), feasibility of growing the new tea cultivar, Xiangfeicui, in the Hangzhou regions was evaluated. The survival rate, plant height and crown width of Xiangfeicui were found to be 100%, 148.8 cm and 132.8 cm, respectively. They all exceeded those for CK. Its sprouting time was same as CK. But, its bud density was 10% higher, and the last-2-year fresh leaves yield 53% higher than CK. Because the quality of the brewed tea was comparable to CK and the plant was similar in resisting to stresses as CK, Xiangfeicui was considered adequate for cultivation in the Jiangnan regions.
